By definition, an item with a hole can be used as a bead. Therefore, almost everything could be in a bead family. Here is the most common types of beads being used

Gemstones – Precious, Semiprecious, Organic.
Glass – Lampwork, Furnace, Pressed, Seed.
Crystals – Austrian, Czech, Vintage, Antique.
Clay – Polymer, Metal.
Metal – Plated, Cast, Base, Bali-style.
